Tierra Verde was originally 15 islands at the southern western end of Pinellas County. Today it is 667 acres with six areas. They are: Monte Cristo, Entrada, Pinellas Bayway, Sands Point, East Shore (Bayview) and West Shore (Oceanview). The area has many waterways from 150 to 350 feet wide up to 15 feet deep. Residents are able to sail to the Gulf of Mexico in minutes. Fort DeSoto is located in Tierra Verde, it is a 900 acre park giving its guests a place to walk, camp, swim or picnic. Tierra Verde has a population of a little over 3,500. Tierra Verde is expected to have approximetly 2,500 families when built out.
