St. Pete Beach is located on the coast of Gulf of Mexico in Pinellas County, it is the 7 mile long barrier island called Long Key. St. Pete Beach was incorporated from several communities. It was called St. Petersburg Beach, but the residents changed the name to St. Pete Beach in 1994 as that is what the area was commonly called. The official area has the city being almost 20 square miles, but almost 18 square miles is water. The city has three bridges that connect it to the mainland. They are connecting at Treasure Island, South Pasadena and Bayway Isles.
St. Pete Beach has miles of beautiful beaches of soft sand. Residents and visitors can enjoy the public beaches and the numerous water spots. The Don CeSar Beach Resort is located in St. Pete Beach. It is easily be found, just look for a large pink palace on a beautiful white sandy beach. Fort DeSoto Park is just minutes from St. Pete Beach. It is a 900 acre park givinig its guests a place to walk, camp, swim or picnic.
