The area known as Palm Harbor was originally settled in the 1860's. The wonderful weather enticed people here to grow crops, fish and visit the warm mineral springs. The area still has many resorts, parks and nearby beaches that entice people to visit and live there. Historic Florida Avenue in downtown Palm Harbor still have many old buildings and many commercial services.
The area has around 60,000 residents and encompasses almost 27 miles. It is largely a residental community. The first Friday of each month Palm Harbor has a "First Friday" celebration. The celebration is for adults and children having dining experiences and exhibits from local artists and crafters. The city also hosts other events.
